Nokia 7 and Nokia 6 2018 Android 8.0 Oreo update starts rolling out

HMD Global introduced Nokia 7 smartphone back in October last year and the new Nokia 6 (2018) was unveiled earlier this month in China running  Android 7.1.1 (Nougat). As the company had promised, it has started rolling out Android 8.0 (Oreo) update for the smartphones. The 788MB update for the Nokia 7 brings the latest Android 8.0 Oreo that brings range of features including Background limits, Picture-in-Picture (PIP), notification channels, Wide-gamut color for apps, Adaptive icons, Companion device pairing, Keyboard navigation, AAudio API for Pro Audio and more. It also adds virtual gesture navigation bar operation, improved double tap to wake up, improves stability, brings updates to system apps and lots more. The company has promised that the old Nokia 6 will get the Android Oreo update soon. Globally, HMD Global has released Android Oreo stable update for Nokia 8 and is currently beta testing the update for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. It recently said that the Nokia 2 will get Android 8.1 Oreo update directly skipping Android 8.0 and will also include memory management features found in Android Oreo (Go Edition). Source

OnePlus 5 and 5T latest OxygenOS beta update brings new features, bug fixes and optimizations

OnePlus has released new open betas (Beta 4 for OnePlus 5 and Beta 2 for OnePlus 5T) that brings several new features including updates to launcher that adds new features such as auto folder tagging, optimizations for high power consumption applications, intelligent background application management solution, adds OnePlus Switch application for backup and restore, bug fixes and optimizations. OnePlus says that some third party camera applications may not fully work with this update. Check out the complete changelog below. OnePlus 3 and 3T OxygenOS beta update brings Face Unlock, Airtel VoLTE support and more

OnePlus has released new Oreo-based open betas (Beta 21 for OnePlus 3T and Beta 30 for OnePlus 3) that brings several new features including support for the most expected Face Unlock feature that the company had been teasing  it last month. The update also brings VoLTE support for Airtel users in India in select cities where it is available, several features in launcher, adds OnePlus Switch backup and restore apps and more. Xiaomi Mi A1 Android Oreo update resumes with January security patch, includes bug fixes

Xiaomi started rolling out Android Oreo update for Mi A1 smartphone on 31st December as it had promised. Later it pulled the update due to bugs and said that it will resume in a couple of weeks after fixing the bugs. Now the company confirmed that it has started rolling out a new OPR1.170623.026.8.1.10 update for the smartphone that includes Android Security patch for January 2018 and also includes bug fixes. Even though the update is said to fix several bugs including Bluetooth Battery drain issues, random reboots, Unresponsiveness of dialer app and more that users have faced with the first update and also brings back fingerprint gestures and removes SIM HD notification, but some are still experiencing few bugs such as slow camera. The update for those who have already received the Android Oreo update is 89MB and the update is also rolling out for Android Nougat users that includes Android Oreo update along with the January security patch which is 1112.4MB is size. Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime with 5.5-inch 1080p display, 4GB RAM launching in India on January 17

Samsung just sent invites for the launch of Galaxy On7 Prime (SM-G611), the company's latest smartphone in the On series in India on January 17th. The phone was teased by Amazon.in last month and most of the specifications of the phone were revealed on Amazon last week and it was expected to launch in the second week of January. Samsung says that it comes with Samsung Mall, which could be a dedicated app to buy Samsung products. There is a dedicated Samsung Mall page on the Samsung India website which is under construction. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass screen, is powered by Octa-Core Exynos 7870 processor, has 13-megapixel front and rear cameras, features a metal unibody design and comes in two variants, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and the other variant has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. It has dedicated dual SIM slots and the fingerprint sensor is embedded into the home button. It also comes with Samsung Pay Mini that lets you transfer money using  wallets just by scanning the code or sending it using mobile number and send to bank account using UPI (Unified Payment Interface).  No details about the battery capacity yet. Sony WF-1000X Wireless Noise Canceling Earphones Review

Wireless audio has really come into a category of its own over the last two years or so. The ongoing trend of ditching the headphone jack on phones has, of course, spurred all manner of audio product manufacturers to get a move on. One of the newest form factors to hit the market is of truly wireless earphones. Bragi might have been amongst the first to release truly wireless hardware but it was Apple's Earpods that, predictably, made the world listen. Long story short, here we have with us the Sony WF-1000X, the Japanese company's first truly wireless headset. Follow along for our review. Design While the Bragi Dash takes the cake for being the most discrete truly wireless headset out there, the Sony WF-1000X comes fairly close too. Available in gold and black, the earphones are finished in a shiny but matte material. Look closely and you'll observe that the front half of the earbud is transparent and has a metal band running under it. Sony has done a great job in creating an antenna design that is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing too. LG V30 Android 8.0 Oreo beta update starts rolling out in the US

LG V30, the latest camera-centric smartphone from the Korean smartphone maker is one of the best flagship smartphones that we have seen in recent times. The LG V30 or the LG V30+ (with 128 GB storage instead of 64 GB) checks almost all the boxes with very modern design gets better with the latest Android Oreo OS upgrade. Initially, the update was seeded in South Korea a couple of weeks back and now the update is available for the selected users in the United States. The software is based on Android Oreo 8.0 with January security patch, according to a screenshot from a user who has managed to have installed the update. The Oreo update comes with plenty of new features like smart notification bundle, picture in picture mode, notification dot, new battery saving modes for better battery optimisation. Do note that, the update will be rolled out via service providers in the US, which might take some time depending on the network provider.
